Government The second advance estimate for the production of spices for the 2016-17 season
The second advance estimate for the production of spices for the 2016-17 season has been released by the Union Agriculture Ministry, according to which the cumin seed production is also 3% lower than last year, though turmeric, red chili, coriander, black pepper and Cardamom production has been estimated to be higher than last year. Total spice production is estimated more than last year.
As per the second advance estimate of the production of spices in 2016-17 season, 0.486 million tons of cumin has been produced in the country this year, as against 0.503 million tons in the country last year.
However, all other spices except cumin have been estimated to produce more than last year. According to advance estimates, this year, the production of coriander in the country is estimated at 0.609 million tons as against 0.585 million tons in the previous year.
Talking of turmeric, this year, the total production of 1.1 million tons of turmeric in the country has been estimated, which will be the highest ever production, till last year 0.943 million tons of turmeric was produced in the country.
Production of red chillies can also be broken this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, this year, total 1.87 million tons of red chilli is going to be produced in the country, whereas last year only 1.52 million tons of red chilli was produced in the country.
Speaking of the production of black pepper, this year, there is a possibility of producing 72,000 tons of black pepper in the country, whereas last year 55,000 tons was estimated.
Talking of cardamom, the total production of 27,000 tons this year is estimated as against 24,000 tons of cardamom production in the country last year.
This year, the estimation of potato and onion crop in the country was actually higher than that of production and this is being clarified by the second advance estimate for the horticulture crops released by the Union Agriculture Ministry. For the 2016-17, the Ministry of Agriculture has released the second advance estimate of horticulture crops on Tuesday evening, according to which this year the production of onion in the country is at record high and potato crop is also more than last year.
According to estimates, this year, 21.564 million tons of onion production is estimated to be the highest in the country when the Ministry of Agriculture had released the first estimate before it was expected to produce 19.7 million tons of onion but the latest estimate is clear. It is said that the onion crop is more than last year's record i.e. this year a new record is made, last year 20.931 million tons of onion was produced in the country.
Talking of potatoes, potato crop is also reported to be about 3.1 million tons more than last year, as against 43.417 million tons of potato production in the country last year, while production of this year is estimated to be 46.546 million tons has been applied.
