Flour and bran production: Huge wheat harvest, decreasing flour production in Russia

MOSCOW. In 2017/18 Russia witnessed the lowest production volumes of flour and bran since 2009/10. The millers experienced an outraging fall in prices for flour. China is increasing imports of Russian flour. Exports to Turkey of bran continue to set records.

 

Flour production

High gross volumes of wheat in 2016-17 and the lower prices for wheat led to a significant decrease in the price of flour. On 12th March 2018 the average FOB price for wheat flour of high quality was 210 USD/MT at port Novorossiysk on the Black Sea. The ExW price at the same region was 174 USD/MT.
