Flaxseed: prices take a dip

NUR-SULTAN/MOSCOW. Market players are optimistic that flaxseed harvesting will start soon in southern Russia.

New crop trades at EUR 0.54 per kg

Harvesting is expected to start as early as the end of July or the beginning of August in Siberia. Trading is, howver, largely subdued at present. Buyers are holding back, whereas traders are trying to sell a few cleaned flaxseed before the new crop arrives. Brown flaxseed with a 99.9% purity is trading at EUR 0.57 per kg DDP Germany. New crop raw seeds are currently trading in a range of EUR 0.38-0.39 per kg FCA in Russia and the cleaned flaxseed from the new crop at EUR 0.54 per kg DDP Germany. Some suppliers, however, still demand surcharges of up to EUR 0.03 per kg for annual contracts.
