Flaxseed: first price estimates for the new crop

NUR-SUTLAN. The current conditions speak indiacte the flaxseed production may very well range above average in Kazakhstan. In addition, the first price estimates have been issued for September.

Ideal weather conditions

The flaxseed producers in Kazakhstan continue are still highly satisfied with the weather conditions. Above-average rainfall has boosted soil moisture levels and the weather conditions continue to be ideal. A record production is very well possible Sowing is also proceeding according to plan and will be completed this week.

Firm prices

Brown flaxseed with a 97% pruity is trading in a stable range of EUR 0.44-0.46 per kg FCA Kazakhstan. Although some suppliers are trying to sell their supplies for prices as high as EUR 0.50 per kg FCA, it is difficult for them to find buyers. Offers are highly limited for golden and organic flaxseed in Eastern Europe as only small volumes are available. Brown flaxseed is trading in a lower range at EUR 0.45-0.48 per kg FCA.

Price estimates for the new crop and traders in Canada struggle with China

The first price estimates have been issued for the new crop, which will arrive as of September. Although most traders are still reluctant to quote prices, Initial estimates range ar EUR 0.35 per kg FCA Kazakhstan for brown flaxseed with a 97-98% purity. Traders in Canada report that they are are having difficulties selling to China. For them it is easier to find buyers in South America.
