Flaxseed: drought threatens global crops

NUR-SULTAN/OTTAWA. At present, it is becoming apparent that the flaxseed crop in Canada will suffer a fate similar to that of the growing regions in Kazakhstan and Russia. The persistent drought is a huge problem and the sporadic rainfall cannot counteract.

Not enough rain in Canada

In Canada, flaxseed prices are rising in view of the current circumstances. Heat and drought are causing problems for the plants and the local rain showers are not enough to provide relief. Rather, regular rainfall is needed for a significant improvement of the situation. Nevertheless, the plants are developing well, according to Manitoba experts.
