LODZ. Confusing news in Poland, sowing is about to start in Russia and contrary opinions are rendering the price development uncertain for the next few weeks.

Conflicting arguments

The prices have remained stable in Eastern Europe this week. Traders expect prices to drop soon. Other market participants, however, disagree. The traders reckon that the prices will drop because the farmers will require money very soon to commence sowing. In addition, the traders will try everything to sell their remaining stocks before the new season starts. Due to the large harvests reaped in 2016 carry-over stocks will certainly remain. Others, however, claim that cleaning operators in Poland will very soon be able to increase their output, which will prompt the demand for raw seeds.

No confidence

Smaller processors currently are, however, not very confident since they have not noticed any increase in demand. Contrary to this, larger processors are running at full capacity.
