Flaxseed: Canada to increase production

OTTAWA/LODZ. The farmgate prices have stabilised in Canada. Experts are convinced that this year’s production will top official estimates. Meanwhile, prices in Eastern Europe remain highly diversified.

Delays in sowing

Due to the increase in acreage StatsCan is currently estimating production at 615,000 mt. Contrary to this, acreage is expected to decline for rapeseed and soybeans by 6% and 21% respectively.

Flaxseed exports in comparison

Farmgate prices remain stable in Canada at 13.50 dollars/bushel. China is by far the most important export destination for Canada. While prices will most certainly decline until the arrival of the new crop, much will also depend on demand from China. The concern that one of the most important trad
