NUR-SULTAN. China and Kazakhstan are constantly expanding their trade relations. On 30 July it was announced that further Kazakh companies have been licensed to export flaxseed to China.

103 licensed companies

According to current information, a total of 103 Kazakh companies - 78 of which were admitted on the recommendation of the government - will be allowed to export flaxseed from Kazakhstan to China in future. China is thus increasingly breaking away from its trade relations with Canadian flaxseed exporters, while the Kazakh market is no longer dependent on customers in Western Europe.

Russia takes the helm

Between September 2019 and May 2020, Germany imported 124,422 metric tonnes of flaxseed (customs tariff number 12040090 Linseed (excl. for sowing)), around 12% less than in the same period last year. While shipments from Russia showed a significant increase compared to last year, the volume of Kazakh imports declined by almost a third.
