AYDIN. The market for Turkish dried figs has relaxed in the meantime, after some traders had tried to push up prices with hysterical reports previously.

They were asking up to 6,000 USD/mt, depending on the type. Meanwhile, the lower price level has asserted itself, and is being held for a quite a while now.

Exports almost drawing even
The Turkish fig market exists primarily because of its regular customers. A normal, good crop is sufficient, by and large, to cover the demand. That is also evident in the export figures, because even though the export season started somewhat early this year, shipments abroad are comparable to the same time last year.
