AYDIN. The price increase this week did not come as a surprise on the Turkish dried fruit market, nonetheless, the difference was particularly noticeable.

Prices increased by about 100 USD/mt. The offers have come a long way since the levels of last year, and further increases in price are expected until the end of the season.

Like on the rest of the dried fruit market, market players are also expecting a good fig production, but more precise predictions are not available yet.

Exports are still slow
Barely 600 mt of dried figs were exported by Turkish suppliers last week. Poor quality and decreasing stocks do not suggest that the export figures will recover any time soon. Almost only ongoing contracts are being fulfilled and new spot requests can hardly be expected at the current price level.
