The production used to be 25 lakhs tonnes in the past years though last year production was 10 lakhs tonnes and this year it has gone further down by 4 lakh tonnes. Due to drought and lower production leading to low availability of cane and affecting the recovery of sugar industries for almost 4 years. And this year, most mills in the state are expected to stop there crushing by the end of this month and capacity utilisation is just about 20% of its original. The farmers have already given raise of concern to the government to make alternative action on the lower producing.
