Dried figs: TMO stops purchasing at 1,500 metric tonnes

AYDIN. The TMO intend to stop buying dried fruits as of the end of December. This also applies to dried figs. Exports are on the rise.

Exports approach 30,000 metric tonnes

The TMO has purchased an estimated 1,500 metric tonnes of dried figs since the start of the season. Farmers are urged to register sales by 31 December as purchases will no longer be possible in January. Turkey has shipped as much as 29,700 metric tonnes of dried figs overseas this season so far, which is 4,000 metric tonnes more than last year. Weekly export volumes still range well above last year, whereas the average export price is USD 0.80 per kg lower.
