Dried figs: supplies are running low

AYDIN. Unfavourable weather conditions during the drying period led to massive yield losses in dried fig production. Therefore, stocks are already running low.

30% yield loss

According to market players, growers have now sold off their stocks and traders are said to only have small positions that are suitable for the export market. Accordingly, price reductions are currently a long way off. Dried figs are being traded at TRY 84-240/kg on the Aydin Commodity Exchange, depending on variety and quality, and export prices for dried figs, Lerida, no 2 are at USD 8,900/mt FOB Izmir, as in the previous weeks.
