Dried figs: Recalls in the German retail market

AYDIN. Died figs with elevated ochratoxin A (OTA) values have been discovered in German food discounters. The affected products have now been recalled. This season it has frequently been reported that there are quality issues with dried figs from Turkey.

 

Traders are tempted to speculate

The export prices are mainly stable, although the stronger Turkish Lira has resulted in nominal increases this week. High quality figs are currently being offered for 19.50 TRY/kg. Standard quality is trading from 18 TRY/kg. The prices for lower qualities are ranging at 7.50 TRY/kg upwards. Export prices are ranging at 5.500 USD/mt – 6.500 USD/mt, depending on size.
