ESTHABAN. Prices in Iran have fluctuated considerably over the last two weeks. Traders are reporting new production estimates. Inflation has, in addition, taken its toll on the market.

Contrasting price developments

Although the prices for dried figs have risen by 10% in the domestic market, the export prices have declined by EUR 0.13-0.20 per kg over the last two weeks. This is mainly due the preparations for the Yalda Night, which given domestic demand a boost. The Yalda Night marks the longest night of the year at which nuts and dried fruit are traditionally consumed. Export demand is reportedly also good, but exchange rate fluctuations are, nevertheless, preventing prices from rising too high.
