AYDIN. As the heat is on in Turkey rain was highly welcomed in Aydin last weekend. This rain also spells good news for figs.

Prospects still good

As temperatures have climbed to 24-27C (75-81F) at night and to 37-43C (99-109F) throughout the day rain is good for the fig trees. Quality is not an issue at the moment. In fact, pollination seems to have been successful and if weather conditions remain normal until the end of the harvest production should be of good quality. As the crop is currently being assessed the market still has to wait for a clearer picture to emerge as to yields and quality.
