Dried figs: Quality concerns among traders

AYDIN. Despite the expected high production volume for Turkish dried figs, the prices for raw fruits are comparatively high. Depending on size and quality, they are being recorded at between 9.00 TRY/kg and 27.00 TRY/kg.

 

Rain splits the fruits

There is said to have been around ten times as much precipitation as is usual in Aydin. Rain and humidity have badly affected the fruit, leading to much of it splitting and rotting. Market participants estimate that 30-40% of the dried fig production is in poor condition. A production of around 80,000 mt is expected this year.
