... the dried fruits that do not meet the food standards are sold as industrial goods. In addition, the requirements of some buyer countries are not quite as stringent as those of the EU.

The problem, however, is that the reduced supplies of high-quality need to be stored properly to maintain their quality. Inappropriately stored figs could therefore further diminish supplies of high-quality products.
