AYDIN. Christmas, Chinese New Year, Ramadan - these three festivities are keeping the export market in Turkey busy despite high prices. The exports for the Christmas season have now been completed.

Limited potential for price rises

In the free market it is still virtually impossible to get high-quality figs. The price indications for Lerida figs range between 6.500 USD/mt and 7.500 USD/mt FOB Izmir. Further nominal price increases are expected after the turn of the year. If prices rise too high, with no physically available products behind them, this will put off potential customers and may damage business relationships in the long run.

Dried figs were, in fact, trading for 35 TRY/kg last week, while prices have now dropped to 25-28 TRY/
