Dried figs: farmers concerned about weather fluctuations

AYDIN. According to growers, the figs have developed well so far, but rain is forecast for the Aydin growing region for the next few days. At this stage, this could have a negative impact on the quality and yield of the new crop.

Farmgate prices remain high

So far, Turkish farmers report a good growing season for figs. However, they are concerned about the rapidly changing weather conditions. Rain is forecast for the Aydin growing region in the coming days, which could have a negative effect on the quality of the fruit now that the fruit set has developed, and possibly even lead to a lower yield. At the moment, thanks to high temperatures, everything is still pointing to good fruit development and the producers are now hoping that the rainfall will be moderate.
