AYDIN. The suppliers are exclusively focused on meeting existing contracts and market players are already talking about the new crop. A curious turn has, however, taken place in the export market.

Positive outlook

The winter has provided the fig trees in Turkey with ample opportunity to recover, which has led market players to expect a good production. In the region around Aydin, most figs are grown for dried fruit production. The weather also is also decisive for the drying phase.

The supplies of dried figs suited for the export market are still heavily limited. Offers have not been seen for a long time. The prices circulating on the market are purely indicative and differ by several 1,000 USD/mt depending on quality.
