Dried figs: export season off to a good start

AYDIN. Exporters can be very satisfied with the start of the new export season. While commodity prices are rising, the latest devaluation of the Turkish lira is preventing high export prices.

Exporters are satisfied

Turkish market players report a very good start into the export season, which began last week. Since the start of the season on Wednesday (6.10.), 5,781 mt of dried figs and fig products have been shipped overseas, while Turkey exported a total of 5,965 mt last week. In the corresponding week last year, the figure was only 3,085 mt. Total exports since the beginning of the season amounted to 8,471 mt at this time last year, but it has to be taken into account that the export season started almost two weeks earlier than this year.
