AYDIN. With the official start of the season just a few days away and the steady rise in commodity prices, the Turkish dried fig market is rather quiet. The current season will see significantly lower export figures than 2022/2023.

Prices remain volatile

Turkey will officially start exporting dried figs in the middle of next week, on 25 September. Market players are reporting chaotic conditions on the market, as growers are constantly demanding higher prices due to the low yields. Meanwhile, demand remains moderate. Traders reckon that this picture will remain for a few more weeks.

Compared to last week, prices for dried figs, no 5 and no 6 have risen again and are now at TRY 250/kg, while Type 7 and Type 8 are trading at TRY 230-240/kg. Exporters are reluctant to give prices, and if t
