AYDIN. Dried figs from Turkey are enjoying increasing popularity. Traders report that some contracts have been concluded with customers from China who are covering up for the Chinese New Year festival.

Asia is busy shopping

Since the export season officially started at the end of September, Turkish dried fruit suppliers have exported almost 21,000 mt of dried figs, around 6% less than in the same period last year.

The Christmas shipments to Europe have virtually been completed. Now the exporters in Turkey are concentrating on a few shipments to China, where dried figs are required for the New Year celebrations in February.
