Dried cranberries: nominal decline in US production

MADISON/OTTAWA. While the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council is reckoning with a nominal raise in global dired cranberry production, US production is expected to range lower.

Canada and Chile to gain

The US, Canada and Chile are expected to produce an estimated 206,896 metric tonnes of dried and sweetened cranberries this year. While US production is expected to range lower at 157,975 metric tonnes (-2.3% year-on-year), production is set to rise by 12% to 37,243 metric tonnes in Canada and by 16.4% to 11,678 metric tonnes in Chile.

Sliced cranberries trade at EUR 3.50 per kg

US traders have expressed concerns that the pandemic may prompt a general oversupply of cranberries in the new season. Dried and sweetened cranberries are indeed trading lower than in January. Whole dried cranberries are currently trading at EUR  3.95 per kg FCA Central Europe  and sliced cranberries at EUR 3.50 per kg FCA.
