Dried cranberries: Fresh fruit production to rise by 3.2%

WASHINGTON, D.C./OTTAWA. According to the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC), a total of 3.2% more fresh cranberries are to be harvested in the USA, Canada and Chile than last year.

Fewer dried cranberries

This year's fresh cranberry production is set to rise by 3.2% to 616,000 mt in the US, Canada and Chile. At the same time, the INC has cut back its production estimates for dried cranberries. An estimated 212,245 mt of dried cranberries are to be produced in the US, Canada and Chile this season, 1% less than last year. While dried fruit production is to rise by 39% to 11,338 mt in Chile, production is set to decline in the US and in Canada by 2% and 6% respectively.
