MALATYA. Nominal frost damages and persistently cold temperatures in some regions notwithstanding, fresh apricot production is expected to be good. There are, however, also...

... other far less optimistic voices stating that production will decline. The weather is not ideal for the development of the fruit and diseases may reduce yields. Market players are currently no longer prepared to issue definite production estimates. Although there is no longer any danger of frost, hailstorms may cause some optical damages.

Companies take a break

The start of Ramadan, which was marked by a holiday, and the four-day curfew over the weekend prompted many companies to close on a temporary basis last week. Exporters also refrained from buying dried apricots. As the end of the season is approaching, it is becoming more difficult to find good quality dried apricots on the free market. Due to exchange rate fluctuations the export prices have, however, remained firm.
