Dried apricots: speculations on the new crop

Market players are currently no longer prepared to issue definite production estimates. Although there is no longer any danger of frost, hailstorms may cause some optical damages.
Companies take a break
The start of Ramadan, which was marked by a holiday, and the four-day curfew over the weekend prompted many companies to close on a temporary basis last week. Exporters also refrained from buying dried apricots. As the end of the season is approaching, it is becoming more difficult to find good quality dried apricots on the free market. Due to exchange rate fluctuations the export prices have, however, remained firm.

Exports fall short of last year
Dried apricot exports declined sharply last week as only 1,033 metric tonnes of whole dried apricots were shipped overseas, which is more than 500 metric tonnes less than this time last year. Turkey has shipped 81,630 metric tonnes of dried apricots and dried apricot products overseas since the start of the season, a decline of 500 metric tonnes on last year.
