Dried apricots: New season starts with delays

MALATYA. The weather-related delays for the dried fruit production in Turkey have now also delayed the start of the new season.

Exports will only start after the Festival of the Sacrifice

Normally, the new season start on 1st August each year. This year, however, all shipments taking place until 3rd August were still counted for 2018/2019. Total exports range at 100,000 metric tonnes. Problem is that cool night temperatures slowed down both the ripening of the fruit and the drying process this year. Accordingly, only small volumes of this year's production have arrived.
