Dried apricots: Production estimates do not live up to expectations

MALATYA. INC forecasts for Turkish dried apricot production in 2019/20 are lower than market participants had expected. The actual result depends above all on demand in the fresh produce market.

Demand is crucial
As published during last week's INC World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress, global dried apricot production is estimated at just under 2 million mt in 2019/20, an increase of 7% over the previous year.

Turkey is one of the few producing countries to expect an increase over the 2018/19 season. However, not all market participants agree with the mentioned 120,000 mt, here expectations go up to 140,000-150,000 mt.
