MALATYA. Production estimates for dried apricots circulating within the market are much more optimistic than the official estimates in Turkey.

Manipulative estimates?
Some traders have lowered their prices for smaller dried apricots once again. Many refuse to submit their prices for the new crop until after the election weekend.

Market players are sceptical about the official production estimates of 90,000 mt, which were published two weeks ago. They are rather reckoning with a production of 110,000 mt and expect end of season stocks to amount to 25,000-30,000 mt. According to one trader, it seems as if officials gave lower estimates to prevent an early drop in prices for the new crop.
