MALATYA. Reports state that the apricots used for dried fruit production are in a very good condition in Turkey. Production is, however, expected to decline for unsulphured dried apricots and for organic apricots.

Possible boost in demand

Market activities are very much limited in Turkey this week and the export prices remain stable. An estimated 90,000 mt have been shipped overseas this season so far. Market players are reckoning with good starting prices for the new crop. Offers for the shipments in August should be available by next week at the latest. A possible strengthening of the lira and inflation-adjusted farmgate prices notwithstanding, an attractive price level at the start of the season should boost demand and cause prices to rise again.
