MALATYA. After heavy earthquakes struck in Turkey, Malatya is still suffering from aftershocks. This situation has also impacted the market for dried apricots.

Market activities remain subdued

Heavy damages have been reported in Kale, Pütürge and Doğanyol, where large sizes are mainly produced. Market players are not in the mood to trade or to speculate at present. This may, however, change in March when the trees start to bloom and traders, who still hold supplies, start to speculate on the weather, the crop and on prices. Since sales are slow the market is expected to remain largely subdued over the next few weeks.
