Desiccated coconuts: Traders hope for a hike in prices

JAKARTA/MANILA. Prices remain on a comparatively low level for coconuts. Market players hope that prices will rise significantly in the second half of the year.

Rising prices in Sri Lanka

The Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, caused a temporary standstill to the market. Since demand from India remained firm the few traders who still had offers available were able to demand higher prices. Market players report a sharp increase in the prices for finely desiccated coconuts, which were up to 180 USD/mt more expensive than for esiccated coconuts, medium.
