Desiccated coconut: prices start to shift

JAKARTA/MANILA. The market for desiccated coconuts has become more volatile. Prices are shifting in Europe and in the international market and the exporters in the Philippines are reportedly sold out.

Surge in demand

Last week, the International Coconut Community recorded drastic price rises for desiccated coconuts in Indonesia and in Sri Lanka. Contrary to this, the prices in the Philippines have declined. Although the exporters in the Philippines are reportedly sold out until September 2020, there still are supplies in the resale market. In general, however, market players state that demand is on the rise.
