Dates: volatile market

TEHRAN. Fars is the fourth largest producing province in Iran. Annual date production typically ranges at 150,000-200,000 metric tonnes. This figure has, however, been exceeded this season.

Hike in production

Production is currently estimated at 211,203 metric tonnes, which is well above the 175,000 metric tonnes of dates harvested in 2018. The main varieties produced in Fars are Shahani, Kabkad and Estamaran dates along with Piarom and Mazafati dates.
