Dates: limited cold storage facilities are a problem

TEHRAN. The Sistan va Baluchestan Agricultural Organisation estimates that around 210,000 mt of dates have been harvested in the province so far. Cold storage facilities are urgently required in Bushehr province.

Lack of cold storage capacities

As the use of pesticides has been cut, whereas the use of biological and organic fertilisers and monitoring are on the rise market players state that producers are on the best way to provide healthy and nearly organic dates. Mazafati dates account for 60% and Rabi dates for 28% of production in Sistan va Baluchestan. The Agricultural Organisation aims to step up production of more superior varieties, including Piarom, Medjool and Barhi and Zahedi dates.
