Dates: exports more than 20% up

TEHRAN. Iran’s date exports are more than 20% up on last year. This boost is not only driven by highly competitive prices but also by vaccinations that have helped to improve the pandemic situation and transportation in many countries. Mazafati dates are the most popular variety by far.

Highly competitive prices

Iran exported 97,089 mt of dates between 21 March and 22 September, which is 21.6% up on the 79,840 mt exported in the same period last year. In terms of value, however, exports are only 16.4% up on the USD 71.985 million generated last year. The export value ranges at 83.804 million. While average export prices ranged at USD 0.90/kg last year, they have declined by 4.4% to USD 0.86/kg this year.
