TEHRAN. Although production has risen sharply in Iran this year, exports are hampered. Manufactures are having difficulties selling their products overseas. Problem is that government intervention has hurt the market.

Decline in exports

Production is now officially estimated at 150,000 metric tonnes, which is an increase of 20% over last season. The rise is attributed to an increase in rainfall and favourable weather conditions. Market players are, however, no longer satisfied with the way in which overseas shipments are developing since warehouse stocks indicate a decline in exports and it is rather difficult for manufactures to sell their products overseas.
