Dates: Continuous increase in production

RIAD. July is the peak season for dates in Saudi Arabia. It is currently estimated that production will reach a 5-year high.

 

Saudi Arabia is leading producer

Saudi Arabia is one of the most important producers of dried dates. About 12% of the global production are marketed as unprocessed fruits. In Saudi Arabia approximately 20-25% of dried dates are consumed directly. Production is said to have risen by 21.6% to 225,000 mt in Saudi Arabia between 2014 and 2018. The peak arrival season start sin July and continuous through to August. Prices are set to rise in this period and are expected to drop again in September.
