Due to excess supply in the market the price of Garlic reached Rs 10 per kg Ex farm

But India set to lose the gain made in garlic exports during last couple of years with a fall in Chinese garlic price. A surge in the Chinese garlic have adversely effected the India garlic exports and the excess supply has been made in the India market by the farmers who are not getting the Minimum support price for their crop and are not able to recover their input cost. The surge in garlic price started in the month of December kept its trend till date even though the Mandi has fixed up a price varying from Rs 30 - Rs 50 per Kg the garlic price have reached all time low of Rs 10 per kg with the surge in demand. The government has promised to support the garlic crop and will take immediate measures to balance the demand and supply cycle. Even though the price of India garlic is less compared to Chinese but the bigger size of Chinese garlic, taste has an enormous advantage to Chinese which drives the purchase away from India.
