Wheat: France's spot market tends to be a little stronger
Wheat is slightly firmer in Chicago and Paris. China's purchases of 320,000 metric tonnes of durum wheat and 3.26 million metric tonnes of corn since 10 July have supported the market. However, increasing wheat yields in France and Russia with the harvest moving to higher-yielding northern threshing areas also slowed the rise in prices. Taiwan bought 98,230 metric tonnes US feed wheat, Pakistan 300,000 metric tonnes soft wheat from the Black Sea region. In Germany, the wheat harvest north of the Main line continues with good yields and qualities so far. Milling wheat is offered for EUR 171-172 per metric tonne and quality wheat with 13% protein at EUR 174-175 per metric tonne from southern German stations, it was said.

Corn: China's corn purchases in the USA have risen considerably
Corn also increased slightly in Chicago and Paris. In the USA, China's purchases of 3.26 million metric tonnes of corn since July 10 supported the market. China's corn prices have reached a five-year high due to flooding and low temperatures, according to traders. The situation has prompted China's importers to buy more US corn. Nevertheless, prices have hardly moved at all. In France and Westphalia, corn rose slightly, but the available supply has become rather scarce. However, the euro exchange rate, which rose to 1.1586 USD/EUR this morning, makes EU corn imports cheaper. Ukrainian corn was last offered at EUR 130.70 per metric tonne CPT Odessa for prompt shipments.
