Canola production estimates decreased by AAFC
Ottawa In its latest report, Agriculture and Agri Food Canada (AAFC) has said that production of canola is reduced from 18.203 million tonnes in the year 2017-18. This production was 19.601 million tonnes in the year 2016-17, whereas in 2015-16 it was 18.377 million tonnes. Due to the decline in canola production in the new season, the drought has been told.
AAFC says that the total supply of canola is estimated to be 19.651 million tonnes, which will be the lowest after 2014-15. Canola's domestic crushing is estimated to have a slight dip and it can be 9 million tonnes. Whereas, exports are expected to come down by 9 per cent and it is estimated to be 9.9 million tonnes. The carry-out stock is estimated to be 650,000 tonnes in 2017-18, which will be the lowest after 1997-98. Carry-out stock is 2.091 million tonnes in 2015-16, 1.348 million tonnes in the year 2016-17.
The production of canola-rapeseed in the entire world is estimated to decline, due to which the lack of production of Canada and Australia has been reported. However, European countries and Ukraine will be able to partially complete this shortfall.
The average price of canola is estimated to be slightly increased to 510-550 Canadian dollars per tonne in the new season, while in August it was estimated to be 500-540 Canadian dollars. For the year 2016-17, the average price of canola was Canadian $529 per tonne while the average price of canola in 2015-16 was 509 Canadian Dollars per ton.
According to the report, the coverage of canola in 2017-18 is expected to increase from 8.119 million hectare in 2016-17 to 9.237 million hectares, whereas this sowing was 8.322 million hectares in the year 2015-16. Canola has been projected to export 9.9 million tonnes from Canada in 2017-18. This export is 10.974 million tonnes in the year 2016-17 and 10.299 million tonnes in the year 2015-16. Let us know that the new crop in Canada starts on August 1 and ends on July 31.
