CORN: Sowing for the upcoming harvest already moving at a quick rate

SOFIA. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by the 13th of April, 215,294 ha of arable land were sown with corn. So far farmers have prepared to plant approximately 323,570 ha. Indeed, since the beginning of the planting season till 13.04.2017, current sowing rate was by close to 26% higher than that of last year (171,155 ha).

The French, on the other hand, seem to be in no hurry. As a local farmer observed “they seem to be allocating more arable land for the cultivation of other more profitable crops rather than lacking pace in the sowing process.”
