Buckwheat: EU imports have halved

DALIAN/BRUSSELS. The Chinese buckwheat market is currently characterised by low trading activity. Shipments to the EU have also roughly halved this year.

Low market activity in China

The Chinese buckwheat market remains quiet at present. Supply and demand are in balance and prices are relatively stable. Nevertheless, market players are keeping a close eye on price developments, as although there is currently sufficient supply on the domestic market and there are also imports, farmers are reluctant to sell their stocks. The comparatively low demand has even caused prices to fall slightly recently.
