DALIAN/BRUSSELS. Domestic supplies for buckwheat have dwindled in China. EU imports have declined sharply in 2023/2024. Sowing has witnessed a dip in Ukraine.

Supplies dwindle in China

Domestic supplies are running low in China. Yet, imports are ensuring that enough supplies remain in the market. Although demand is rather limited, prices have risen in recent weeks. Hulled conventional buckwheat is trading at USD 850/mt FOB Dalian and organic buckwheat at USD 950/mt FOB Dalian. Heigh freight rates are also driving up export prices.
