Blue poppy seeds: surge in demand expected in September

CHRUDIM. The Czech Statistical Office published its crop forecast for this year's poppy seed crop last week, and yield expectations are good despite the initially gloomy outlook.

As gloomy as the prospects for the Czech poppy seed crop were in the meantime, the forecasts now indicate that the acreage could achieve at least an average yield. According to market players, 80% of the cultivated area are in good condition and the harvests are running on a large scale. The weather is also playing along and should not bring any unexpected risks to the process.
