Blue poppy seeds: Record prices in the Czech Republic

CHRUDIM. The exports from the Czech Republic have declined drastically this season. This is, however, by no means due to a lack in demand.

 

Exports down by 22%

The buyers are desperately looking for blue poppy seeds, regardless of which country they are produced in. They are rather paying attention to the price and the morphine content.

Between August and November 2018, the year-on-year poppy seed exports from the Czech Republic dropped by 22%. Austria, the Ukraine and Hungary are among the few importing countries that have increased their imports during this period.
