Blue poppy seeds: production estimates have been confirmed

CHRUDIM/ANKARA. The Czech Statistical Office has issued new production estimates. They are in line with expectations.

More that 24,000 metric tonnes have been harvested

The Czech Statisitcal Office currently estimates acreage at 35,800 hectares and poppy seeds production at 24,344 metric tonnes. Average yields range at 0.68 metric tonnes per hectare. The increase in acreage and the higher yields have there prompted production to rise by as much as  77% over last year.
