Blue poppy seeds: Pricing forecast for 2018/19

CHRUDIM. Czech blue poppy seed farmers are experiencing similar problems to Bulgarian sunflower seed producers: heavy rainfall prevented sowing at the scheduled time.

Now drought is compromising crop development and farmers are demanding higher raw poppy prices. Traders, however, cannot pass on this mark-up to potential customers in the event of punctual deliveries, demand is too low for that. Some are therefore opting to temporarily abstain from providing prices.
