CHRUDIM. Czech growers of blue poppy seeds are in no hurry to sell off their remaining seeds, and buyers are also showing restraint.

100% price increase

Traders expect the prices of blue poppy seeds for prompt delivery to remain at the current level until late April. Depending on the supplier, the offers now range from 2.33 EUR/kg to 2.46 EUR/kg DDP Germany.

Prices have doubled when compared to last year (March 2017: 1,180 EUR/mt DDP Germany). This allows growers to make good profits while being able to afford to sit tight for the coming weeks, without being dependent on sales.
